I use QEMU for running virtual machines on my Linux Debian install. One of these vm’s is running Windows XP. This is because I experience some keyboard issues running Citrix under Debian, when trying to write APL code – though it otherwise works perfectly! For instance, I have the Outlook-icon (via Citrix) in my system-tray – it is impossible to see that I am running it under Linux! I am actually impressed.
To get XP to allow native screen-resolution, I had to append a attribute when launching the vm:
# qemu -std-vga -full-screen -m 1000 -kernel-kqemu xp.img
-std-vga does the trick – now I am able to change screen resolution to 1400×900.
